The Riverton (Wyoming) Regional Airport was designed by the University of Wyoming and built on an undeveloped tract of land. Riverton is located about three miles southwest of Riverton, in Weld County; it also served nearby Lander, Colorado. It has two runways and is used mostly for private and regional flights. There is an area parking lot on the north side, but parking can be found along the runway on the south side.

Riverton offers a wide variety of services to travelers. A variety of airlines fly from the Riverton airport, with the most frequently used being United Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, and Continental Airlines. In addition, there are a number of private charter companies that provide a variety of flying services for visitors. There are a number of hotels in the immediate vicinity of the airport, and most offer free shuttle service to and from the airport.

Riverton has an excellent airport parking system, and visitors do not have to pay for parking at the airport. The terminal buildings are open to the public on an hourly basis. The baggage drop zone is on the south side of the building. A parking kiosk can be found within the airport parking lot and provides a variety of information about local transportation and parking. There is a large pedestrian bridge over the highway that connects to the freeway.

Public road access is available from the airport and parking areas. The closest main highways, U.S. Highway 50, and State Highway 30, are accessible from the south. The closest major freeways are U.S. Highway 50, State Highway 35, U.S. Highway 9, and U.S. Highway 11. The nearest rail lines are the Yellowstone National Park Railroad and the South Platte Railroad, which operate out of the Denver Union Station. In addition, there are a number of recreational vehicles and campgrounds, such as cabins, that are located on either side of the highway, just off of U.S. Highway 50.

A popular attraction near the Riverton (Wyoming) Regional Airport is the Grand Wash, a natural lake filled with waterfalls and an assortment of wildlife. Riverton residents love to go boating and fishing on the Grand Wash. There is also the Big Sandy Lake, which has waterfalls and is a popular spot for fishing. and hiking. Many visitors visit the Rocky Mountain Club for hiking and camping. The lodge and clubhouse are open to the public on a regular basis. There is a picnic area on the west end of the lodge, while the lodge is closed during bad weather.

The parking lot is located on the south side of the airport. There is an air-conditioned terminal with two terminals. There are a baggage carousel, one on either side of the parking lot, plus a large ramp for passenger aircraft. There is an area for loading and unloading baggage, as well as an area for wheelchair access.
