Northeast Philadelphia Airport

Northeast Philadelphia Airport is an airport located about three miles north of Ashburn and three miles east of Broad Street in northeast Philadelphia. It is part of The Philadelphia Airports Commission and serves as the primary Philadelphia airport, as well as the major Philadelphia International airport. It also serves as the general aviation (GAA) reliever airport in Philadelphia for the entire Philadelphia area.

The Airport has two terminals, one inside the terminal building and one on the property itself. The inside terminal was built on land purchased from the city of Philadephia in order to serve as an emergency site for a local airport. When the Philadelphia airports were being constructed, it was not until after the construction was completed that the inside of the airport was built, meaning there was no need for an emergency site. This allows the airport to be flexible in terms of how they use the building. The airport uses the inside of the building as an operating facility when there is an issue or emergency, and this has allowed the airport to grow.

The other terminal was built on the outskirts of town so that the flight arriving in the area will be able to land, take off, and get into the area. In many cases, passengers will arrive by charter plane that lands at the PNE airport. Most of these flights land in and around the North Parking lot. The area is used as a location for a restaurant, retail space, and office building.

As previously stated, the airport is only serving the north part of Philadelphia. The central part of Philadelphia was actually built before the airport was built in the early 1980's. The majority of flights into the area that land at the Northeast Philadelphia International Airport make their way into the central part of Philadelphia before heading back to the North Philadelphia area. Although most of these flights land at the Northwest Philadelphia Municipal Airport, there are still a few flights landing at this airport as well.

The parking lot is located on a level lot directly across from the runway. The Northeast Pennsylvania Transportation Authority also owns the property. The PATA manages the parking lot for both airports. The parking lot is also the site of the terminal that provides services to passengers departing from the airport. The terminal houses ticketing areas, baggage claim, restrooms, customs, and baggage carousel, and gates for airport shuttles.

You can find plenty of different car rental companies in the Northeast Philadelphia parking lot. There is a good selection of different kinds of cars available to rent from. Some of the companies that you can choose from include Hertz Car Rental, Enterprise Car Rental, Budget Car Rental, Enterprise Limousine, Avis Car Rental, and Budget Limo. Most of these rental companies allow you to do a self check out or pick up and drop off of your rental car at your home or office. If you would like to drive to the airport, there are even a parking lot right next to the terminal, and many of them have shuttle service to and from the airport.
